Ramiro Melendreras

Ramiro Melendreras Gimeno was a professor of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Murcia, in which, as well as previously at the Complutense Universities of Madrid, Santiago de Compostela and Granada, he exercised his teaching activity. His research work was mainly focused on the field of mathematical programming, although he also worked on portfolio selection problems, multi-criteria decision, information theory or game theory.

The Ramiro Melendreras award has been convened since 1984 in each National Congress of Statistics and Operations Research, it is sponsored by the Ramiro Melendreras Foundation, and members of the SEIO born up to 30 years before the holding of said congress can choose it. Candidates must register for the congress and the work presented for the award must be unpublished or have been published in the period established in the bases of each call. Candidates for the award orally defend their work and the commission, in addition to assessing the scientific quality of the work, must assess the degree of involvement of the person presenting it. The decision of the Ramiro Melendreras award takes place during the National Congress of Statistics and Operations Research and the Jury is made up of the Scientific Committee of said congress.
