Research Fellow position (post doc)
miércoles, 12 julio 2017

We’re looking for an enthusiastic researcher, who is keen to work at the interface between applied statistics and public health. The post-holder will undertake geospatial analysis of disease distributions and use computer simulation to evaluate alternative sampling and surveillance strategies for NTDs, in collaboration with colleagues from the NTD Modelling Consortium (http://www.ntdmodelling.org/).

We are seeking applicants with PhD-level qualification in statistics, mathematical ecology, statistical epidemiology, or relevant quantitative subject. Ability to develop complex statistical models and strong programming skills are essential, including modelling spatial stochastic process using MCMC and/or approximate inference approaches. The post holder should be able to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary research team. We will expect the post-holder to be a key contributor to method development, strategic decision-making given computational infrastructure, and refining methods and improve results given data availability. Demonstrable experience using GIS and implementing geostatistical analysis approaches would be an advantage, as would a theoretical and practical understanding of infectious disease epidemiology.
