At Bournemouth University our vision is to create the most stimulating, challenging and rewarding university experience in a world-class learning community by sharing our unique fusion of excellent education, research and professional practice and inspiring our students, graduates and staff to enrich the world.

We were the first university to be commended by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) for the quality of student learning opportunities and in 2012 we won the Queens Anniversary Award for Higher Education. We are currently changing the face of the university through our new, transformational estates programme with a stunning series of iconic new buildings, and we are continuing to invest further in our intellectual capital by seeking to appoint high calibre teams and individuals to our award-winning Faculties. The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences has a strong research culture and in REF2014 54% of our research was rated internationally excellent or world-leading.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the continuing development and expansion of quantitative research and teaching at Bournemouth University. Working with the Professor of Statistics in the Bournemouth University Clinical Research Unit, you will contribute to teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate level, providing methodological support to staff, and developing your own research programme. This post will involve programme leadership, the provision of statistical and/or methodological consultancy, and being a member of multi-disciplinary teams developing research protocols and conducting research projects. Involvement in Clinical Trials will be an important aspect of the post and you will work closely with academics across the Faculty and university, and with health professionals in the NHS. Experience of working in health research and knowledge of NHS ethics and governance processes is an advantage.

You will be qualified to Doctorate level or able to demonstrate the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level and capability to convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 3-5 years from the date of the appointment. You will be research active and committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement. You must be able to demonstrate a strong potential for research leadership with a track record in refereed publications and success in grant applications.
