A postdoctoral fellowship in Mathematical Statistics is available at the University of Alberta, Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. Faculty mentors will be Professors Douglas Wiens (http://www.mathstat.ualberta.ca/~wiens/) and Linglong Kong (http://www.mathstat.ualberta.ca/~lkong/).
The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Statistics and/or Mathematics or a related field, and have research interests  or be able and willing to cultivate these  in robustness, both theoretical and as applied to design of experiments, to online sampling schemes, to neuroimaging, etc. He/she will have strong skills in mathematics, computing and statistics and a demonstrated record of research.
We are seeking someone with the right mix of mathematical skills, statistical inclinations, and a passion for research.
The salary is $36,725.22 per year. The successful candidate will also, if eligible, be nominated for a PIMS postdoc (see https://www.pims.math.ca/scientific/postdoctoral), which can be held concurrently. As well, postdoctoral fellows in this department are normally given the opportunity to teach up to one course per term; the current rate is $7935 per course. The term of the fellowship is up to two years, subject to the continuing availability of funds. It can start as soon as a suitable candidate has been found, and the opportunity will remain open until then.
