PhD student position in computational Bayesian statistics at QUT, Brisbane, Australia
martes, 08 de marzo de 2016

This scholarship is supported by a discovery early career researcher award (DE160100741) entitled “Tractable Bayesian Algorithms for Intractable Bayesian Problems” from Dr Christopher Drovandi at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. The position is open to applicants inside and outside Australia.

The goal of the project is to develop novel efficient and scalable Bayesian algorithms for handling complex models that do not possess a tractable likelihood function. This will be done through extensions of various likelihood-free approaches such as approximate Bayesian computation and pseudo-marginal methods.

You will also develop innovative and efficient methods for computing Bayesian p-values, which are important for model criticism, assessment of prior-data conflict and determining weak informative priors. These developed methods will be applied to high-impact applications such as cell biology and heart physiology where appropriate.
